Distractions
Distractions, Distractions...
I am thankful for the distractions I have had since my visit with the girls. Even though they are not all pleasant distractions I have decided to be thankful for them because without them I would be a puddle of a mess. Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
First, I am thankful for this never ending, forever changing eye "funk" I contracted while in Haiti. Six weeks, 4 perscriptions later and it is still mystifying 2 optometrists. (Waiting on insurance approval to see a specialist.) As soon as I think I am clear and can resume wearing my contacts, surprise- It is back and stronger than before! Without my eye issues I would have time to focus on the lack of progress/news on my adoptions.
Next, I am thankful the computers at school are not working correctly. Having to complete lessons and reports at home or in the office has not always been easy. Yet, it has filled countless hours that would have otherwise have been spent pining for my daughters. For that I am thankful.
I am also thankful for our pets. Even in their sickness they provide comfort. My brother's dog has kidney failure. The last 2 weeks I have helped provide the dog treatment. Buster shows unconditional love as I assist in treating him and instant forgiveness for the painful needle pricks we inflict on him. What a joy to know this big love! (p.s.The treatments are helping, he is back to his playful self most of the time now.) My pets, too, have provided many hours of distractions. They seem able to read emotion and provide comedic relief when I need it most. Proverbs 12:10a A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal.
I am thankful for the distraction of the internet, allowing me an excape from the now and ability to plan for the future. This week I found a great group to use as a resource for AA hair and skin care. I've been researching lessons and activities for my class and my girls. Because of the internet I ahve found so many good and helpful sites, caring and prayerful stranger-friends, and suppoer on this journey to my girls. I am even thankful for the virtual viruses that shut my computer down on a regular basis, without which I might never turn off this contraption.
Finally, I am thankful for the welcomed distraction from family and friends. Thank you for all your support and love. Love You!

I am spending way toooooo much time fuming about my lost judgment paper (Three months to get it the first time and now already three more months and it hasn't been replaced!!) I guess I need more distractions. Am also having eye issues but know mine are caused by allergies--just big, itchy bumps on my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI've had several distraction since May...big ones...and you're right they really do make the time fly. I can't believe the summer is gone and I'm still in shock that our son will be home in 4 days! Terry
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder....I definitely need more distractions, and need to be thankful.
